Complete NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete Team

Oct. 29, 2013— The North Central College softball team can add four new members to its National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCCA Division III All-American Scholar Athlete collection.  Amanda Walker, Ashley Guest, Carly Trenhaile and Kayla Antle all received recognition for their commitment both on and off the field.

The NFCA recognizes this achievement when student-athletes achieve a 3.50 grade point average or high during the 2012-13 academic year.

For the Cardinals, this is Walker, Trenhaile and Antle's first time receiving this award.  This is Guest's second recognition, attaining the award during the 2010-11 academic year.

Walker was named First Team All-CCIW, CCIW Newcomer of the Year and Third Team All-Great Lakes Region in the 2013 season.  She also led the team in slugging percentage (.617), hits (52), RBI (37), doubles (15) home runs (6) and total bases (87).

Trenhaile was named Second Team-All CCIW after hitting .343 with nine doubles and four home runs.  She was also named to the All-Tournament Team at the NCAA Whitewater Regional after hitting .333 in five games with four runs batted in, including smacking a home run against Illinois Wesleyan.

Antle started all 47 games at third base during the 2013 season.  She was named CCIW Hitter of the Week on April 23, after hitting .538 in series against Wheaton and Millikin.  She hit .333 on the season with 10 doubles and led the team with 40 runs scored, 12 sacrifice bunts and 20 walks.

Guest started eight games and played in 26 of the 2013 season.  She had a .161 average in 31 at-bats.

The Cardinals finished last season with a 35-12 overall record and made it to the Sweet Sixteen for the third time in program history.

North Central kicks off the 2014 schedule Mar. 20-25, travelling to Orlando, Fla. for the Dot Richardson Spring Games.
