McMINNVILLE, Ore. (Mar. 19, 2013) - The North Central College women's lacrosse team got itself into the win column for the first time in 2013 on Tuesday, closing out its Spring Break schedule with a 17-3 rout of host Linfield College.
The Cardinals (1-2) jumped ahead with a string of eight unanswered first-half goals to defeat Linfield for the second straight time.
The score was level at 1-1 four minutes into the game when North Central moved ahead for good, scoring eight times in a 16-minute span. Three goals in the rally came from
Jacqui Morgan, while
Bianca Perri scored twice. The Wildcats (0-5) scored with 4:33 on the first-half clock, but the visitors closed the half with goals from
Gina Fisher and
Danielle Fiala to head into halftime with an 11-2 advantage.
The Cardinals held Linfield out of the goal for the first 25 minutes of the second period as well, scoring six straight goals to put the game away.
North Central established a new single-game school record with 14 assists and outshot the Wildcats, 32-12. Morgan totaled a game-high five goals, while Fiala totaled four.
Claire Norfleet led the Cardinals with three assists and Fiala, Fisher and
Leea LoPresti each caused three turnovers.
The Cardinals host their first home game of the season on Saturday, opening Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) play against the College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) at 1 p.m. Live video coverage of the game will be available on Naperville Community Television, Channel 17 and
