(Mar. 27, 2012) –  North Central College softball player Andrea Starr was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week after earning three victories last week at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.

Starr, a freshman Athletic Training major, tossed a no-hitter against Nichols College that featured seven strikeouts last Wednesday. She also threw a complete game against the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, allowing just one run on three hits.  In her first start of the week, against The College at Brockport, she gave up just two earned runs in five innings to earn the victory.  Starr finished the week with a 1.50 ERA in 18 innings pitched.

Her performance enabled the Cardinals to go a perfect 10-0 in Fort Myers, and has helped North Central to their best start, 12-0, since the 1995 team opened the season with 13 consecutive victories.

On the year, Starr has a spotless 6-0 record with a 0.75 ERA in 36 innings pitched.  She has yielded just four walks and has fanned 25 batters.

The Cardinals look to set the school record for most wins to start a season on Thursday when they host Beloit College at Shanower Family Field at 3:00 p.m.
