(Apr. 2, 2013) – For the second consecutive week, a North Central College pitcher has been honored as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week.  This week junior Vlasta Mangia earns the honor after victories over Concordia University Chicago, Beloit College and Monmouth College. 

Mangia (8-0) went 3-0 last week and produced 1.06 ERA after giving up just two earned runs in 17 innings pitched.  She also struck out 11 batters and walked just three.  Her best start was a two-hit shutout of Beloit College on Mar. 28. 

In her eight starts this season, the junior has gone the distance in each, tossed three shutouts and has given up just three earned runs en route to a 0.49 ERA.  Last week, fellow Cardinal starter Andrea Starr earned her first Pitcher of the Week award.  This is Mangia's first award as a pitcher, but has captured Hitter of the Week honors three times.
