(Apr. 23, 2013) – For the first time in her career, sophomore Kayla Antle has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Hitter of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

Antle's selection is the fourth time a member of the Cardinal softball team has been honored by the CCIW.  Junior Vlasta Mangia has earned Pitcher of the Week twice, while freshman Andrea Starr won Pitcher of the Week once.

The third baseman hit .538 last week, with four hits and scored three runs in a sweep of Millikin University on Saturday.  In yesterday's split with Wheaton College, Antle went 3-for-6, and had an RBI single in the opener.

For the season, Antle leads the team with a .400 average, a .505 on-base percentage and has coaxed a team-high 15 walks.  She also leads the CCIW in runs scored (33) and sacrifice bunts (10).

North Central (28-4, 6-4 CCIW) hits the diamond on Thursday when they host Lake Forest (15-12, 10-3 Midwest Conference) for a non-conference doubleheader at Shanower Family Field.
