WGCA Press Release

July 1, 2013 - North Central College women's golf student-athletes Mary Kate Rohn and Marisa Miko have been honored with selections to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team for the 2012-2013 season.

To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must have maintained a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 and competed in at least 12 competitive rounds with an average of less than 95.0 strokes per round. In all, 644 golfers were selected among the three divisions of the NCAA, and Rohn and Miko were among 89 honorees from NCAA Division III institutions.

A sport management major, Rohn makes the WGCA's list for the third straight season, making her the second player in the North Central program's history to be so honored. She turned in a team-best scoring average of 81.9, including a season-best round of 73, and finished in the top 10 in 11 of 14 events. She was the individual medalist in two tournaments and placed fifth at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships to earn All-Conference honors.

Miko earned her second selection to the All-America Scholar Team, also making the list in 2011. The music education major ranked second on the team with an average of 84.6 strokes per round, placing in the top 10 in eight of 13 events with a low round of 77.

North Central has had at least one representative on the team in each of the past five seasons.

The Cardinals open the 2013 fall season on Aug. 30 at Carthage College's Tournament on the Border.
