Kmiec Named to NABC Honors Court

July 17, 2013 - North Central College men's basketball player Vince Kmiec has been honored with a selection to the National Association of Basketball Coaches' (NABC) Honors Court for the 2012-2013 season in recognition of excellence in academics.

The Honors Court consists of varsity student-athletes who have maintained at least a 3.2 grade-point average after at least two years of study. More than 700 men's collegiate basketball players qualified for inclusion. Kmiec is among 323 NCAA Division III players to be so honored.

Kmiec, a physical education major who is preparing to enter his senior year at North Central, started all 32 of the Cardinals' games in 2012-2013. He averaged 10.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while establishing a new single-season school record with 67 steals and sinking a team-high 52 three-pointers. He ranked second in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) in steals per game (2.09), minutes per game (35.4) and free-throw percentage (.857) and was a Third Team All-CCIW selection.

Kmiec is one of 11 CCIW representatives on the Honors Court.

The Cardinals finished the 2012-2013 season with an overall record of 28-4, estabilshing a new North Central record for single-season victories, and won their second straight CCIW Tournament title before qualifying for their first-ever national semifinal in March.
