2013 IWLCA NCAA Division III Academic Honor Roll

Aug. 22, 2012 – Two North Central College women's lacrosse student-athletes have received individual academic honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for the 2013 season.  The IWLCA released its annual NCAA Division III Honor Roll on Thursday.

Senior defenders Rachael Houp, an exercise science major, and Jamie Legner, an athletic training major, were among the 382 student-athletes from 67 institutions to make this year's Honor Roll.  Nominees considered had a GPA of at least 3.5 or were in the top 10 percent of their team.

Houp started all 17 games for the Cardinals last season, scoring seven goals and adding an assist.  She was third on the team in caused turnovers (22), fourth in ground balls (33) and was named to the All-Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) First Team.   Legner scored two goals from her defensive spot and helped anchor a defense that gave up 7.7 goals per game.  Both girls were also named to the 2013 Academic All-MWLC Team for the second consecutive season.

North Central claimed two of the MWLC's nine representatives on the Honor Roll.  Carthage College and Concordia University Wisconsin each had three representatives, while Beloit College added another.

The Cardinals finished the 2013 campaign with an overall record of 12-5 and a 7-1 record in conference play.  North Central qualified for the MWLC Tournament for the third straight year and advanced to the championship game for the first time in program history.
