CCIW Press Release

Sept. 23, 2013 -
North Central College quarterback Spencer Stanek has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Football Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 16-22.

Stanek became the first player to receive the CCIW's weekly award twice this season after leading the Cardinals to a 41-14 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Saturday. Stanek completed 24 of 26 passes for 278 yards and four touchdowns, establishing a new North Central single-game record for completion percentage (.923), while also running for 50 yards and a touchdown.

He is one of only four players in the past five seasons to receive a CCIW Player of the Week award. Only Elmhurst College running back Scottie Williams was so recognized two straight times during the 2012 season.

Through two games, Stanek has completed 50 of 61 passes (82.0 percent) for 608 yards and five touchdowns without an interception. He also leads the Cardinals in rushing with 156 yards and three TDs. He currently leads the CCIW in passing yards per game (304.0), total offensive yards per game (382.0) and passing efficiency (192.74). He ranks fifth among all NCAA Division III players in total offense and seventh in passing efficiency.

Ranked No. 4 nationally by both the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and D3football.com, North Central (2-0) returns to action on Saturday, hosting the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Kickoff at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. Links to live video, audio and in-game statistics can be accessed by clicking HERE.
