Softball Recognizes Five NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes

Complete NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete Team 

Oct. 2, 2014— The North Central College softball team has the privilege of recognizing five of its athletes to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCCA Division III All-America Scholar Athlete collection. Carly Trenhaile, Kayla Antle, Amanda Walker, Andrea Starr and Jordan Johnson are among the selected. This marks the second honor in a row for Trenhaile, Antle and Walker.

The NFCA distinguishes this achievement when student-athletes achieve a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2013-14 academic year.

Trenhaile ended the 2014 season with a .362 batting average, collecting 30 hits with nine doubles, three triples and two home runs. She scored 16 runs while batting in 16 and will be starting her senior year this season. In the outfield she received a .875 fielding percentage with 20 putouts.

Antle secured a .390 batting average last season while leading the teams in runs scored at 42. She held a .575 slugging percentage while getting 57 hits, 12 doubles, three triples and three home runs in her junior year. On the field she recorded 29 putouts and 107 assists at third base. Antle also made Second Team All-CCIW.

Walker was named First Team All-CCIW last season as a sophomore. She started all 46 games for the Cardinals and led the team with 6 home runs, 41 RBI and a batting average of .399. Walker had 57 hits with 10 doubles, one triple and the top slugging percentage of .608.

Starr started in 21 games at the mound for the Cardinals going 16-6 overall in her sophomore year. She ended the season pitching with a 2.27 ERA and striking out 71 batters while collecting four wins in the postseason.  At the plate, Starr had 28 hits with two doubles, three home runs and 23 RBI.

Johnson played in 32 games for the Cardinals grabbing 14 hits, two doubles, 12 RBI and a home run. She crossed the plate 10 times for the Cardinals to score to wrap up her junior year. 

The Cardinals closed the 2014 season 33-13 overall and made it to the program's first ever Super Regionals appearance hosted at Shanower Family Field.

North Central kicks off the 2015 schedule March 19-25 with their spring trip and will host the first home game on March 28 against Saint Mary's College (Ind.).
