Jacki McKown and
Madison Renfro both broke school records, while
Ebony Stallworth broke two to lead the North Central Cardinals women's track and field team to a second place finish at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships at Al B. Carius Track on Friday night.
Stallworth stole the show on Valentine's Day as she bested two of her own school records. Stallworth heaved the shot put 45'4 ¼" to claim the event. Her distance is currently the 4
th best throw in all of NCAA Division III. Stallworth also crushed her previous record by 9 ½" in the weight throw with a toss of 51'3".
Renfro broke teammate
Jocelyn Redlinski's 60-meter hurdle record in a time of 9.00 to finish in second place and place her in a tie for ninth in the country. McKown broke the fourth school record of the evening in the 1,000-meter run. Her time of 3:06.16 lowered the previous mark by 1.04 seconds.
Elizabeth Composto led a trio of Cardinals in the pole vault as she set a personal record after clearing 12'7 ½". Composto's height is currently tied for second-best in Division III.
Brooke Patterson claimed second with a vault of 12'1 ½", and
Kelsey Truedson took third (11'1 3/4").
The Cardinals also claimed the top two spots in the high jump.
Kelsey Kirk and Redlinski both cleared 5'3 3/4", but Kirk was awarded the victory because of misses. Redlinski also placed third in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.04.
Miranda Rorer sprinted to a season-best 7.92 in the 60-meter dash to finish third and
Sade Gant came in just behind in fourth place (8.00).
Skylar Bayer took fourth place in the 1,000-meter run (3:17.66) as did
Erin Fitzgerald in the 800-meter run (2:20.48). The Distance Medley Relay team of
Katelyn Zumpf,
Tori Cappozziello, Bayer, and
Emily Trent also finished in fourth (13:00.97).
Megan Costanzo capped the Cardinals' top-five finishes after running the 5,000-meters in 18:38.79.
The Cardinals garnered 134 points, falling just short of Lewis University who scored 153.5. Carthage College finished in third with 78.5 and the University of Chicago rounded out the top-four with 53.
North Central is at home again next Friday night when they host the Cardinal Classic.
