The Cardinals (6-4, 5-1 MWLC) absorbed a narrow 14-13 defeat against Concordia University Wisconsin just two days before, but showed no ill effects as nine different players reached the scoring column and sophomore attacker
Gina Fisher established a new North Central single-game record with 10 draw controls.
Fisher and
Anna Bartels got the Cardinals on the board early in the contest before Benedictine (1-12, 0-7) broke the ice with Gabby Rowe's goal at the 23:59 mark. North Central followed by scoring five unanswered goals and 10 of the next 11 before carrying a 13-3 lead into halftime. The Eagles put up the first two goals of the second period, but four straight North Central scores ended any thoughts of a comeback.
Fisher turned in game-high totals of five goals, four assists, seven ground balls and six caused turnovers. With four games remaining in the regular season, Fisher's 38 goals in 2014 have already surpassed her total of 37 from the 2013 campaign. Bartels and
Samantha Kinder scored three goals each, while
Leea LoPresti returned from a six-game absence due to a concussion to provide five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
North Central's goal total matched the third-highest in the program's six-year history, while the Cardinals' 20 draw controls were just one short of the all-time record.
Benedictine got two goals each from Rowe, Samantha Link and Hannah Payne.
North Central travels to face 24th-ranked Augustana College (12-0, 6-0) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Links to live video coverage and in-game statistics can be accessed by clicking
