Contact: Clark Teuscher, Sports Information Director, 630-637-5302Box ScoreApr. 24, 2014 - Rain fell in two forms at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium Thursday evening, as the North Central College women's lacrosse team ignored the wet conditions and unleashed a barrage of goals on the Loras College Duhawks, scoring a 22-3 Senior Night victory in Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play.
The Cardinals (7-5, 6-2 MWLC) tied the single-game school records for goals scored and margin of victory, getting nine different players into the scoring column as they improved to 4-1 in home games this season.
Mallory Bahr opened the scoring with the game's first two goals, and North Central owned a 4-0 lead before the Duhawks (3-14, 2-6) broke the ice with a goal by MWLC scoring leader Kaitlyn Kutsch with 20:08 on the clock. The Cardinals followed with five unanswered goals and went on to take a 12-2 advantage into halftime. The hosts outscored Loras, 10-1, in the second half, including the final seven goals of the contest. North Central wound up owning a 43-4 advantage in shot attempts and permitted the Duhawks only three clears in 21 attempts.
Gina Fisher posted team-high totals of six goals, four assists, 11 ground balls, nine draw controls and five caused turnovers for North Central.
Leea LoPresti added four goals, four ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers, while Bahr and
Samantha Kinder each scored three times. Fisher established new single-season school records for assists (22) and draw controls (72).
North Central will look to clinch its place in the MWLC Tournament Saturday, when it travels to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on the College of Mount St. Joseph (9-6, 5-4). Live in-game statistics can be accessed by clicking
