CINCINNATI (Apr. 26, 2014) - The North Central College women's lacrosse team's fourth consecutive trip to the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Tournament was locked up on Saturday, as a school-record scoring effort by sophomore attacker Gina Fisher helped propel the Cardinals past the College of Mount St. Joseph, 17-13, at Schueler Field.

Fisher totaled 10 goals to break the previous North Central record of seven, which she had shared. Her scoring total matches the second-highest single-game effort by any NCAA Division III player this season and stands as the most ever recorded in a MWLC contest. Fisher has also tied the Cardinals' single-season record of 56 goals set by Danielle Fiala last season.

Trailing, 2-1, early in the first period, North Central (8-5, 7-2 MWLC) strung together four straight goals to pull back in front. Fisher scored two goals and recorded an assist during the rally. The Lions narrowed the gap to 6-5 shortly before halftime, but Anna Bartels converted a free-position attempt with 41 seconds remaining to increase the Cardinals' lead to 7-5 at the break.

Mount St. Joseph (9-7, 5-5) scored four times in a five-minute span early in the second half and tied the game at 9-9 on Samantha Hughes' goal with 21:09 to play. Fisher and Bianca Perri scored goals 14 seconds apart to put the Cardinals back in front, and Fisher scored four more times before time ran out to keep North Central a step ahead.

In addition to Fisher's scoring output, the Cardinals also got three goals from Bartels, who tied her season high. Rachael Houp totaled two assists and five ground balls, while goalkeeper Sandy Stasaitis saved 10 shots on goal.

North Central closes out the regular season on Tuesday at the University of Dubuque (4-9, 2-6), beginning at 5 p.m. The MWLC Tournament will be held on Friday and Saturday at Augustana College.
