Aug. 19, 2014 – Two North Central College women's lacrosse student-athletes have received individual academic honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for the 2014 season. The IWLCA released its annual NCAA Division III Honor Roll on Thursday.
Senior midfielder Rachael Houp, an exercise science major, and senior defender Jamie Legner, an athletic training major, were among the 364 student-athletes from 126 institutions to make this year's Honor Roll. Nominees considered had a GPA of at least 3.5 or were in the top 10 percent of their team.
Houp played in 13 games for the Cardinals last season, ranking second on the team in scoring with 25 goals. She also ranked second on the team in draw controls (29) and contributed 27 ground balls and three assists. She was named to the All-Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) First Team. Legner started all 15 games and ranked second on the team with 14 caused turnovers and contributed 19 ground balls. Both were also named to the 2014 Academic All-MWLC Team for the third consecutive season.
North Central claimed two of the MWLC's seven representatives on the Honor Roll. Concordia University Wisconsin had four representatives, while Fontbonne University added another.
The Cardinals finished the 2014 campaign with an overall record of 9-6, including a 8-2 finish in MWLC play which qualified them for the MWLC Tournament for the fourth straight year.
