Aug. 24, 2015 - North Central College women's lacrosse student-athletes Gina Fisher and Kailey Robbins have received individual academic honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for the 2015 season. The IWLCA released its annual NCAA Division III Honor Roll on Monday.
Fisher, a marketing and management major, and Robbins, an elementary education major, each finished their junior season at North Central last spring and were among the 404 student-athletes from 127 institutions to make this year's Honor Roll. Award recipients carried a grade-point average of at least 3.50 and had achieved at least junior status academically.
Fisher was also North Central's College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference Award winner for the 2015 spring season. She was voted to the All-CCIW First Team and the All-Great Lakes Region Second Team while also being named the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Year after leading the conference in goals (3.93), ground balls (5.53) and caused turnovers (3.47) per game. She was also named to the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Fisher owns the Cardinals' career records for assists (74), ground balls (250), draw controls (197) and caused turnovers (139).
Robbins started all 15 games for the Cardinals in 2015, marking her third straight year as a starter on defense. She put up 27 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers and scored two goals. Like Fisher, was named to the Academic All-CCIW Team after making the Academic All-Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Team the previous two seasons.
North Central claimed two of the CCIW's 11 representatives on the Honor Roll. Augustana College put five student-athletes on the list, while Carroll University had three and Illinois Wesleyan University added one.
The Cardinals, who were also designated as an IWLCA Honor Squad for the sixth time in seven years, finished the 2015 campaign with an overall record of 10-5, including a 4-2 finish in CCIW play, and qualified for the inaugural CCIW Tournament.
