CCIW Press Release
Jan. 26, 2016 - North Central College distance runner Aron Sebhat has been selected as one of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week for Jan. 18-24.
Sebhat was picked as the CCIW's Running Event Athlete of the Week after turning in a personal-best performance in the mile run during North Central's Cardinal Opener on Friday at Al B. Carius Track. Sebhat placed first in the event, clocking a time of four minutes, 10.21 seconds to lower his lifetime best in the event by nearly two seconds. His performance helped lead the No. 3-ranked Cardinals to a first-place finish in a meet which also included two other nationally-ranked opponents.
Sebhat's time currently ranks as the third-fastest NCAA Division III performance in the nation this season. He is the second North Central athlete to earn one of the CCIW's weekly awards, as pole vaulter Luke Winder was named the conference's Field Event Athlete of the Week on Jan. 18.
The Cardinals participate in the Squig Converse Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday. Competition is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
