Mar. 23, 2016 - The North Central College men's tennis team has received its first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week recognition of the season this week, as freshman
Wilbur Williams has been named the conference's top performer for the week of Mar. 15-21.
Williams opened the Cardinals' trip to the Spring TennisFest in Hilton Head, South Carolina, with three straight-set victories at No. 4 singles, scoring wins over opponents from Heidelberg University, Greenville College and Loras College. North Central defeated Heidelberg and Loras by identical scores of 5-4 and lost a hard-fought 5-4 match against Greenville. The Cardinals are now 7-3 in dual competition this season.
Currently owning an overall singles record of 8-7, Williams has gone 7-3 thus far this spring, seeing time at both the No. 3 and No. 4 positions.
North Central opens CCIW play Saturday, Apr. 2 at Millikin University. Play at the Fairview Park Tennis Center in Decatur is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
