Lincoln Slagel is among this year's 478 honorees from all divisions of collegiate competition.
To be eligible for All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three years at the collegiate level, participate in at least 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. NCAA Division III competitors must also carry an 18-hole stroke average of less than 79.0.
Slagel, who recently graduated with majors in management and finance, led the Cardinals with a stroke average of 77.09 during the 2016-2017 season. Slagel posted a career-low round of 68 on Sept. 3 at the Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic to tie the North Central 18-hole record and ranks second in the program's history with a career stroke average of 78.83.Â
Slagel is one of 90 Division III representatives on this year's All-America Scholar list and one of five CCIW representatives, joining Millikin University's Blake Davis, David Gerig and Cole Sondgeroth and Illinois Wesleyan University's Conner O'Neil.
