2017 ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar Athletes
July 26, 2017 – For the first time since 2011, the North Central College men's tennis team has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an All-Academic Team selection, while six student-athletes were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes.
To qualify for the ITA All-Academic Team award, a program must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above, as all varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA. This marks the fourth time in program history that the team has qualified for the award (2009, 2010, 2011).
Additionally, six Cardinals earned individual ITA Scholar Athlete recognition, as
Tyler Bussell,
Alex Kohlmeier,
Victor Krueger,
Connor Sass,
Aleksandar Vasic and
Adam Winters each had grade point averages of 3.50 or higher for the current academic year.
The Cardinals finished the 2016-17 campaign with their second straight 12-win season and kick off the 2017-18 season at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Fall Tournament, hosted by Carthage College from Sept. 16-17 at the Smeds Tennis Center.
