2018 ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar Athletes
July 24, 2018 – For the second consecutive year, the North Central College men's tennis team has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an All-Academic Team selection, while five student-athletes were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes.
To qualify for the ITA All-Academic Team award, a program must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or above, as all varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA. A total of 92 NCAA Division III men's teams qualified for the distinction, and North Central is one of two College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) representatives along with Wheaton College. This marks the fifth time in program history that the team has qualified for the award (2009, 2010, 2011, 2017).
To qualify for ITA Scholar Athlete recognition, student-athletes must earn a varsity letter, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 and have been enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters.
Tyler Bussell,
Alex Kohlmeier,
Victor Krueger and
Adam Winters each make the list for the second time this year, while
Lucas Pindak is a first-time honoree.
Krueger, a double major in international business and Chinese, also earned All-CCIW accolades for the second consecutive year, while Bussell, a marketing/management double major, owned a team-high 16 singles victories. All five individuals qualified for Academic All-CCIW honors this spring as well.
The Cardinals open the 2018-2019 campaign Sept. 15-16 in the CCIW Fall Tournament at Fairview Park Tennis Complex in Decatur.
