2018 ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar Athletes
July 24, 2018 – Achieving the distinction for the first time since 2011, the North Central College women's tennis team has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an All-Academic Team selection for the 2017-2018 season, and four student-athletes are honored as ITA Scholar Athletes as well.
To qualify for the ITA All-Academic Team award, a program must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or above, as all varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA. A total of 125 NCAA Division III men's teams qualified for the distinction, and North Central is one of three College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) representatives along with Millikin University and Wheaton College. The Cardinals previously earned the award in 2009 and 2011.
To qualify for ITA Scholar Athlete recognition, student-athletes must earn a varsity letter, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 and have been enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters.
Lauren Dvorak,
Morgan House,
Katie Legorreta and
Tiffany Smolik have all met the requirements to appear on the list for the first time. All four individuals also earned Academic All-CCIW recognition last fall.
The Cardinals open the 2018-2019 campaign Saturday, Sept. 1, when they host matches against Central College (Iowa) and Aurora University.
