CCIW Release
Feb. 3, 2020 - A North Central College men's volleyball student-athlete has captured the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) athlete of the week for the second straight week, this time with senior setter
Michael Trunzo taking home the honors as the defensive player, the conference announced Monday.
Trunzo led the Cardinals to a 2-1 record over the past week, with 3-0 wins over Concordia- Chicago and Illinois Tech while the team's loss came in a close 3-2 final against Milwaukee School of Engineering. The setter recorded 107 assists across the three matches for the team-lead in that category while also adding 18 digs, six blocks, and three service aces to his totals.
This is the first conference athlete of the week award for Trunzo and it is the Cardinals' second since joining the CCIW after
Jason Eslinger won the attacker of the week just last week.
The Cardinals sit at 2-2 on the season and face a tough no. 11-ranked Benedictine University on Feb. 5. The action starts at 7 pm in Merner Fieldhouse, click
