2021-2022 All-CCIW Men's Volleyball Teams
Apr. 5, 2022Â - North Central College men's volleyball found four of its student-athletes earning recognition for their exceptional performances this season with selections to the 2021-2022 All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Teams.
Jared Moser and
Matt Nealon were two of eight selections to the All-Conference First Team, while
Jeremy Cardenas and
Jake Miller were selected to Second Team.
Moser is the first in the Cardinals' history to receive three First Team selections after receiving the honor in 2020 and 2021, in addition to the CCIW Newcomer of the Year title in 2020. The junior outside hitter has led the team in kills throughout the season while averaging 3.49 kills per set, to rank third in the CCIW. Moser found his niche at the No. 2 spot in program history for service aces in a single season (29) and No. 3 for kills in a single season (227).
Senior setter, Nealon, is a first-time All-Conference honoree and receives the First Team distinction after a regular season that saw him rank within the top five among all NCAA Division III players in assists per set and second in the CCIW (9.99). Nealon's 669 set assists this season rank third in the program's history.Â
Cardenas earns his second All-Conference Second Team honor with his first coming after the 2021 season. The junior middle blocker has led the CCIW in blocks per set all season with his current average sitting at 0.92. He also has been at the top of the CCIW for most of the regular season in hitting percentages (.439). Cardenas holds the No. 4 spot in program history with 56 blocks on the season and totaled 142 kills during the regular season.Â
Junior opposite hitter, Miller, is a first-time All-Conference Second Team honoree playing key roles for the Cardinals during the regular season. Miller averages 2.37 kills per set tallying 128 kills on the season and 18 blocks.Â
The CCIW also announced the nine winners of its RESPECT Award for the season. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of their team, their institution, and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration, and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture. North Central's RESPECT Award honoree is sophomore setter, Tyler Donovan.
The Cardinals (18-3) host the Loras College Duhawks (21-6) for the semifinals of the CCIW Tournament Wednesday. Match time inside Gregory Arena is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.Â
