Dan Baker '89 captured the national championship in the 800 meters at the 1988 NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships. Baker clocked a 1:49.9 for the winning time. His championship helped the Cardinals placed third as a team with 46 points.
He followed with a second national championship as a senior, clocking a time of 3:54.41 to win the 1,500 meters at the Indoor National Championships in 1989. His performance helped lead the Cardinals to their first-ever indoor team championship in track and field.
