Six-Mile Run (29:30.8)
Glenn Behnke '74 was the first great cross country/track and field runner at North Central, starting a tradition that has continued for more than 30 years and resulted in the College becoming one of the premier NCAA Division III programs in the country.
In cross country, Behnke was All-American in 1972 and 1973 and was the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Cross Country Champion in 1974, setting a new conference record with a time of 24:24.8. He was also an All-American track performer, winning the six-mile (29:30.8) in 1974 and setting a Division III record in the process.
Also in 1974, Behnke was CCIW Champion in both the three-mile run (14:11.4) and six-mile run (30:16.6). He was also CCIW Champion in 1972 in the three-mile run (14:25.4). Behnke still holds the North Central College record in the six-mile run (29:06.8, 1974).
