Ed Jackson '69 is the most accomplished wrestler in the history of North Central College's program.
In 1966 and 1969, Jackson was College Conference of Illinois (CCI) Champion at 130 pounds. In 1968, he was CCI Champion and Most Outstanding Wrestler as well as NCAA All-American after finishing third at the NCAA national meet.
In 1969, he was the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national champion at 130 pounds and NAIA All-American. He finished his career with a 101-9 record.
Later, as a coach of the Cardinals, he was influential in keeping the program alive. "Ed Jackson helped save the wrestling program," said Al Carius, athletic director at the time. "He took over and worked for no pay. He loved the school and wrestling that much."
