The women’s track and field program had its first national champion since Pristina Jones won the long jump in 1999 after Megan Rossi ’07 won the pole vault at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday, March 11, 2005. Rossi cleared 12-03.50 to win the title.

Two years later, the senior repeated her performance by again capturing the national title. After engaging in a dramatic jump-off with Augustana's Meghan Voiland on the first day of the championships Thursday, March 8, 2007, Rossi finally prevailed. Both competitors set a new national record with marks of 12-11.50.

"I was just thinking of concentrating on the process," Rossi said of her second national championship. "I didn't even know the height - I didn't want to know the height. I just wanted to concentrate on the process."
