North Central College Athletics has a history of fundraising for the American Cancer Society, with a focus on breast cancer. This year, we would like to do something that is a little closer to our hearts.
Coach Thorne's wife, Kathie, was recently diagnosed with and currently being treated for mulitple myeloma. Multiple myeloma is a form of cancer that is caused by cancerous plasma cells which are found in the bone marrow, this has a big affect on one's immune system. Treatment includes chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and stem cell transplant.
At the Cardinals'
October 29, 2011 game against Elmhurst College, we would like to show our support for Coach Thorne and Kathie by wearing burgundy, the color for multiple myeloma. We are selling our "22 Sports, 1 Team" T-shirts in burgundy for $10 and all proceeds (approx. $3 per shirt) will be donated to the American Cancer Society for multiple myeloma research.
