2015 Indoor 5,000-Meter Run (14:23.94)

Travis Morrison won North Central College's second straigh men's indoor 5,000-meter run national championship at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 2015, taking control with a strong surge late in the race to win his first national championship in a personal-best time of 14 minutes, 23.94 seconds.

Morrison spent most of the first half of the race bouncing between fourth and sixth place in the 15-man field before moving up to second behind the University of Wisconsin-Stout's Patrick Jenkins with about 1,200 meters remaining. With just under 800 meters to go, Morrison made his bid for the lead and never relented, extending his lead over Jenkins to nearly two seconds by the time he hit the finish line. Dickshinski moved up through the pack late in the race to finish eighth (14:37.33) and earn All-America honors as well, while Hoffman placed ninth (14:46.60) and Vazquez finished 10th (14:47.07).

"It was a game of chess, really, for the first two miles," Morrison said. "I felt very relaxed. Jenkins made a move - I thought about going with maybe 1,000 meters left - but he took it with about 1,200 to go. I took the lead with no intention of winning, because I was feeling pretty gassed, but I kept it going. I think it beat them more with my head than my legs."
