NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Nov. 5, 2007) - Seniors Maggie Kelly (Riverside, Ill./Fenwick) and CJ Heckman (Shannon, Ill./Eastland) and sophomore Stephanie Ryding (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) were each honored as College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin All-Conference.
CCIW All-Conference Teams
Kelly was named to the first team for the second straight year, and Heckman to the second team for the second consecutive year. Ryding was honored for the first time.
Kelly, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter, led the CCIW in kills (146) and kills per game (5.62 avg.). For the season, she totaled 640 kills (5.47 avg.), 145 digs and 58 blocks. Her 640 kills set a new North Central single-season record, and her 1,632 career kills is best all-time at the College. Her 228 career blocks also rank her fifth all-time. She was honored as the CCIW Player of the Week three times throughout the season and was also all-tournament at Wisconsin Lutheran, the Pacific Coast Classic, Wheaton, Augustana, North Central and Benedictine.
Heckman, a 5-foot-7 setter, ranked third in the conference in assists with 294 (11.31 avg.). For the season, she totaled 1,355 assists (12.66 avg.), 20 aces, 281 digs and 38 blocks. Her 1,355 assists is the third-best single-season performance by a Cardinal, and her career total of 3,059 ranks her third all-time. Heckman was all-tourney at Augustana and Benedictine.
Ryding, a 5-foot-7 libero, was tops in the CCIW in digs with 215 (8.27 avg.). The sophomore also was sixth in the league in aces (12). For the season, Ryding totaled 841 digs (7.19 avg.) and 43 aces. Her 841 digs is the second-best single-season performance, and her career total of 1,538 already ranks her second. She was an all-tournament selection at North Central's Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament.
