NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 12, 2007) – Sophomore linebacker Matt Wenger (Davis, Ill./Dakota) was honored as one of three College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Football Players of the Week after his performance against Concordia University (Wis.) Saturday, Sept. 8.

Wenger led a North Central defense that held Concordia (Wis.) to seven points en route to a 28-7 opening-week victory. Wenger led the team in tackles with eight, and also had 2.5 tackles-for-loss of 13 yards and one sack for a loss of 11 yards. He helped the Cardinal D allow only nine first downs and 52 passing yards while producing three turnovers and finishing with five sacks. Concordia was also only 3 of 16 on third-down conversions.
