DECATUR, Ill. (Oct. 11, 2008) – Eddie Hanson's two first half goals propelled host Millikin University to a, 2-0, victory over North Central College, Saturday afternoon, in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin men's soccer match.
In the sixth minute, Eddie Hanson found the back of the net off a Sean McLean pass to give the Big Blue the lead. Hanson would strike again in the 31st minute, getting a feed from Max Huschen and David Wakefield. Hanson's second proved to be the final goal of the day as the team's combined for a scoreless second half.
Mike McEvoy (Fr., Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) started in goal, recording a save and allowing 2 goals in 45 minutes of work while Phillip Klipp (Fr., Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) took the second 45, stopping all three shots he faced. Bruce Janek logged in all 90 minutes in goal for the Big Blue, stopping three shots to pick up the shutout.
With the loss, North Central falls to 7-5 overall and 0-4 in conference play while Millikin improves to 9-4-2 overall and 2-2 in CCIW action. The game concluded the team's three-game road trip as the Cardinals return home on Tuesday, October 14 for the start of a three-game homestand.
