Oct. 11, 2008 – The North Central College volleyball team completed play in the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament on Saturday, losing, 3-0, to Trine University (Ind.) before a 3-1 setback against Trinity International University (Ill.) at Gregory Arena.

The Cardinals (16-9) were defeated by the slimmest of margins against Trine, as the Thunder came out on top by scores of 26-24, 29-27, and 25-23. North Central led late in each of the first two sets before finishing on the short end.

Jessica Eggert (Sr., Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) totaled 15 kills for the Cardinals, while Jamie Drozd (Fr., Palos Park, Ill./Stagg) led the team with 13 digs. Stephanie Ryding (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) put up 37 assists, 12 digs, and seven kills.

North Central fell behind in its final match of the weekend as well, with Trinity International taking the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-20. The hosts rallied to prevail, 25-23, in the third set before the Trojans closed out the contest with a 25-10 fourth-set victory.

Crystal Wright (Fr., Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) and Colleen McGovern (So., Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) shared the team lead with nine kills each for North Central. Ryding finished with a match-high 25 digs and Alyssa Lantz (Fr., Rockford, Ill./Rockford East) contributed 26 assists.

Eggert was one of six players named to the All-Tournament Team for her performance in the team's four matches over the weekend.

The Cardinals host Illinois Wesleyan University on Tuesday, with play scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
