Ryding Earns Second CCIW Player of the Week Award

Oct. 14, 2008 – North Central College volleyball player Stephanie Ryding (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) has been named one of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Volleyball Players of the Week for Oct. 5-11.

Ryding, who has spent time at both the setter and libero positions this season, was named the CCIW's Defensive Player/Setter of the Week for the second time after helping lead the Cardinals to a 3-2 record in five matches last week. North Central traveled to Elmhurst College (Ill.) for a CCIW match on Tuesday, and Ryding posted 50 assists and 13 digs in a 3-2 victory.

The Cardinals hosted the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament on Friday and Saturday. After opening the weekend with a 3-0 victory over Robert Morris College-Springfield (Ill.), North Central defeated St. Norbert College (Wis.), 3-2, getting 51 assists, 20 digs, and four service aces from Ryding.

The 2007 Second Team All-CCIW selection also put up 37 assists, 12 digs, and seven kills on Saturday against Trine University (Ind.) before closing out the week with a 25-dig effort against Trinity International University (Ill.)

For the season, Ryding ranks third in the CCIW in assists per set (7.99) and seventh in digs per set (3.60).

The Cardinals host Illinois Wesleyan University on Tuesday, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
