Volleyball Splits Opening Matches at Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. (Oct. 31, 2008) – The North Central College volleyball team came within a single set of a two-match sweep in the first day of the Benedictine University Eagle Classic on Friday, but was forced to settle for a split.

The Cardinals opened play against the host institution, and won the opening two frames, 25-20 and 25-19, before the Eagles (14-14) battled back and won the next two, 25-22 and 25-20, before closing out the match by defeating North Central, 15-8, in the fifth and deciding set.

The Cardinals did bounce back in their second match of the day, blanking Aurora University (Ill.), 3-0, posting set victories by scores of 25-19, 26-24, and 25-21.

North Central (21-12) wraps up play in the Eagle Classic on Saturday, taking on Adrian College (Mich.) at 10 a.m. and Carroll College (Wis.) at noon.
