Oct. 7, 2008 – The North Central College volleyball team showed how much determination and grit it held in reserve on Tuesday, posting a second straight road win with a 3-2 victory in a hotly-contested match at Elmhurst College.

The Cardinals (14-7, 3-2 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) had to rally from two sets down to pull off the victory, as Elmhurst pulled ahead by taking the first set, 28-26, as well as the second, 25-21.

North Central rallied to even the match with a pair of narrow wins (25-23, 25-21) in the next two sets, and closed out the contest with a 16-14 fifth-set triumph.

Jessica Eggert (Sr., Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) led the Cardinals with 16 kills, and her 14 digs tied her for the team lead with Anna Wirtz (So., Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem). Crystal Wright (Fr., Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) put up 13 kills and a team-high three service aces, while Stephanie Ryding (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) tallied 52 assists and Christy Hermann (Jr., Washington, Ill./Illinois Central CC) turned in six total blocks.

The Cardinals host the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament at Gregory Arena on Friday and Saturday. North Central opens play on Friday at 4 p.m. against Robert Morris College-Springfield.
