Nov. 10, 2008 - North Central College football players Aaron Fanthorpe (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) and Tony Dieppa (Jr., Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) have been honored as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively. The CCIW announced its selections on Monday.

Fanthorpe returned to the lineup after a one-game absence to account for five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) in a CCIW Championship-clinching 41-28 win over Augustana College (Ill.) on Saturday. He completed 18-of-24 passes for 200 yards and also ran for 83 yards on 17 carries. He threw for two touchdowns and ran for one in a six-minute stretch in the third quarter to provide the Cardinals with a commanding 35-13 lead. Fanthorpe then led North Central down the field for a game-clinching touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter after the Vikings closed the gap to 35-28.

Dieppa returned three kickoffs for 114 yards (38.0 yards per return), including a 52-yard runback of the opening kickoff. He also recorded three tackles (two solo) in kickoff coverage, leading the effort in limiting the Vikings to 11.7 yards per kick return.

Fanthorpe, last season's CCIW Offensive Player of the Year, has now been named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2008. The Cardinals have now won four straight Special Teams Player of the Week Awards.

The No. 2-ranked Cardinals conclude the regular season on Saturday, traveling to Elmhurst College (Ill.) Kickoff at Langhorst Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. A live audio broadcast by the North Central College radio station, 89.1-FM WONC, will be available, as well as live in-game statistics on the North Central athletic website at elmhurst.edu/%7Eathletic/Home/football/stats/live/xlive.htm.
