Nov. 17, 2008 - North Central College linebacker Matt Wenger (Jr., Davis, Ill./Dakota) has been honored as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Football Player of the Week for Nov. 15, making him the only four-time Player of the Week this season.

Wenger led the Cardinals in tackles for the 10th straight game, making 13 total stops in North Central's 35-28 victory over Elmhurst College on Saturday. He also intercepted two passes, returning one 51 yards for a touchdown in the third period.

Wenger is now tied for second in school history in single-season interceptions (6) and third in tackles for a season (119) and career (280).

The Cardinals, ranked second nationally by D3football.com, will host Thomas More College (Ky.) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs on Saturday. Live in-game statistics and an audio broadcast by North Central College's campus radio station, 89.1-FM WONC, will be available.
