Ryding Receives Third CCIW Player of the Week Award

Nov. 4, 2008 – North Central College volleyball player Stephanie Ryding (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) has been named one of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Volleyball Players of the Week for Oct. 27-Nov. 1.

Ryding, who has spent time at both the setter and libero positions this season, was named the CCIW's Defensive Player/Setter of the Week for the third time after helping lead the Cardinals to a 3-1 finish at the Benedictine University (Ill.) Eagle Classic on Friday and Saturday.

North Central tied for second place in the event. The Cardinals lost, 3-2, to Benedictine on Friday before defeating Aurora University (Ill.), 3-0. On Saturday, North Central posted two more 3-0 victories over Adrian College (Mich.) and Carroll College (Wis.)

In the four matches, Ryding turned in 128 assists, 33 digs, 19 kills, and five service aces. This season, she has recorded 1,092 assists and 444 digs, the ninth and 15th-highest totals in school history, respectively.

The Cardinals host Wheaton College (Ill.) in the play-in round of the CCIW Tournament on Tuesday. Action at Gregory Arena is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
