Nov. 6, 2008 – North Central College volleyball player Stephanie Ryding (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District Third Team.
The College Division includes all non-NCAA Division I institutions. Ryding was named to the Third Team in District 5, which encompasses the states of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, as well as the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba.
Ryding has started all 36 matches for the Cardinals (24-12) this season, playing both the libero and setter positions. She has totaled team highs of 1,131 assists and 461 digs, ranking fourth in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin in assists per set (8.26) and ninth in digs per set (3.36). She has been named the CCIW's Defensive Player/Setter of the Week three times, and was a Second Team All-CCIW selection in 2007.
Ryding is majoring in management at North Central College, carrying a cumulative grade-point average of 3.95. She is one of three CCIW representatives on the Academic All-District 5 Teams.
The Cardinals travel to Carthage College (Wis.) for the CCIW Tournament this weekend. North Central plays Augustana College (Ill.) in the semifinal round at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The championship match will be played at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
