Dec. 17, 2008 - The North Central College wrestling team ran its string of consecutive dual-meet victories to eight on Wednesday, defeating the 11th-ranked Cornell College (Iowa) Rams, 26-16, at Nichols Gymnasium.

The fourth-ranked Cardinals (9-2) got their first two victories of the evening via pin, as 141-pounder Jamie Devine (So., Quincy, Ill./Quincy) stuck Cornell's Mike Buhr in 3:41 to open the match, and Ben Youel (Sr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central) needed just 1:24 to pin Joe Hamlbeton for the win at 165 pounds.

Gabe Youel (Jr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central) followed with a 12-4 major-decision victory over Carmen Sacco at 184 before Vinny Sapienza (Jr., Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) defeated Robert Widmer, 12-8, at 197 and Rod Knowlton (Jr., Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) topped Isaac Hull, 5-1, at 285.

Joe Norton (Jr., Carol Stream, Ill./Montini Catholic) posted North Central' final victory of the evening, defeating Micky Spiwak by major decision, 10-1.

North Central participates in the Midlands Championships at Northwestern University Dec. 29-30.
