ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Dec. 3, 2008) - The North Central College wrestling team encountered little resistance in its first competition against a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe this season, rolling over the Augustana College Vikings, 37-3, Wednesday evening.

The lone pin of the evening was recorded by Gabe Youel (Jr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central), who improved to a perfect 12-0 on the season by sticking Matt Nykaza at 184 pounds. Greg Schroeder (Jr., Batavia, Ill./Batavia), meanwhile, won by technical fall at 174 pounds, defeating the Vikings' Gabe Gardner, 23-8.

Major-decision victories were posted by Nathan Fitzenreider (Fr., Winfield, Ill./Wheaton North), who topped Andrew Randone, 14-3, at 133, and Ben Youel (Sr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central), who defeated Billy Gallo, 8-0, at 165.

Winning by decision for North Central were Jamie Devine (So., Quincy, Ill./Quincy) at 141, Nathan DeVaux (Sr., Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) at 149, Jake Sandborn (Jr., Portland, Mich./Portland) at 157, and Vinny Sapienza (Jr., Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) at 197.

The Cardinals travel to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Duals on Saturday.
