LISLE, Ill. (Sept. 13, 2008) -- The North Central College volleyball team encountered little resistance at the Benedictine University Red & Black Triangular on Saturday, posting a pair of 3-0 victories to improve to 8-2 this season.

The Cardinals opened the day by taking down the host Eagles, 25-20, 25-15, and 25-23, then made quick work of Lake Forest College (Ill.), prevailing in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-17.

Crystal Wright (Fr., Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) led a balanced attacking effort against Benedictine with eight kills, and also added a pair of service aces. Anna Wirtz (So., Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem) totaled 18 digs, while Stephanie Ryding (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) and Jessica Eggert (Sr., Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) each added 14. Eggert also contributed a pair of service aces, and Ryding finished with 25 assists.

Eggert put up a match-high eight kills against Lake Forest, and Jamie Drozd (Fr., Palos Park, Ill./Stagg) served up four of the Cardinals' 12 aces. Ryding put up 10 digs and 15 assists.

North Central opens College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play on Tuesday, traveling to Augustana College (Ill.) Play at the Carver Center is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
