LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Sept. 2, 2008) – Goalkeeper Mikie McEvoy (Fr., Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) extended his shutout streak to 270 minutes without allowing a goal as North Central College defeated Lake Forest College, 1-0, in a non-conference men's soccer game at Farwell Field.
Micah Melendrez (Jr., Dixon, Ill./Dixon) netted the game's lone goal in the 80th minute, scoring unassisted. It was Melendrez's second goal on the season. The Cardinals had 18 shots in the game, including 14 on goal, while the Foresters mustered just five shots on goal. McEvoy stopped five shots on goal, recording his third straight shutout.
With the win, the Cardinals improve to 3-0 on the year, while Lake Forest falls to 0-3. North Central returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 6, when they take on Carleton College (Minn.) The Cardinals' next home game is on Friday, Sept. 12, against Mount Mercy College (Iowa).
