Sept. 29, 2008 - North Central College quarterback Aaron Fanthorpe (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Offensive Football Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 27.

Fanthorpe earned the distinction on the strength of his performance in the Cardinals' 37-7 victory at Olivet College (Mich.) on Saturday. He completed 21 of 31 passes for 355 yards and four touchdowns, eclipsing his passing totals from the previous two games combined. He threw for 337 yards in the first three quarters before leaving the game early in the fourth period with North Central well ahead. Fanthorpe came within one yard of a single-game career high in passing yards and also rushed for 62 yards on seven carries for a combined 417 yards of total offense.

He leads the CCIW in passing efficiency (161.6) this season, and is currently third all-time at North Central in career passing yards (2,622) and touchdown passes (29).

Fanthorpe is the second Cardinal to earn Player of the Week honors from the CCIW this season. Linebacker Matt Wenger (Jr., Davis, Ill./Dakota) was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week last week.

The Cardinals, ranked eighth in NCAA Division III by D3football.com, open CCIW play this Saturday against Millikin Univeristy (Ill.) Kickoff at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
