Cardinals roll to third straight dual match win

Quincy, Ill. (Sep. 4, 2008) – The North Central College women's tennis squad won four out of the six singles matches Thursday afternoon, to defeat Division II Quincy University, 5-4, in a dual match at the Quincy Racquet Club. Cory Schillerstrom (Fr., Naperville, Ill./Central) remained unbeaten on the year winning both her singles and doubles matches.

Schillerstrom knocked off Anele Novak, 6-3, 6-1 in No. 1 singles and teamed up with Allison Paschold (Jr., Carlock, Ill./Normal West) for an, 8-3, win over Novak and Lauren Henry. Schillerstrom and Paschold remain undefeated on the season in doubles action, and accounted for the team's lone doubles victory. In singles action, Paschold defeated Bernadette Hayden, 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 3 singles spot while Alicia Degrado (So., Bloomingdale, Ill./Glenbard North) and Christine Heyd (Sr., Elk Grove Village, Ill./Conant) picked up victories in the No. 2 and No. 4 singles positions.

With the wins, North Central improves to 3-0 on the season in dual match play while Quincy drops to 1-2. The team will remain in Quincy, Ill. for the weekend, competing at the Quincy Fall Classic beginning on Friday, September 5 at 2 p.m. The tournament concludes on Saturday, with action starting at 9 a.m. The Cardinals return home on Tuesday, September 9, for a match-up against the University of St. Francis. Matches will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Ranchview Park in Naperville.
