CHICAGO (Oct. 10, 2009) -
The North Central College volleyball team saw its lengthy winning streak come to an end at the University of Chicago's Gargoyle Classic, but was still able to come away with a split of its four matches Friday and Saturday.

The Cardinals opened play with a 3-0 victory over Buena Vista University (Iowa) on Friday, but followed with a 3-0 loss to the Illinois Institute of Technology. On Saturday, North Central defeated Clarkson University (N.Y.), 3-0, and came within a few key points of its third win of the weekend before coming out on the short end of a 3-2 decision against Wartburg College (Iowa).

Stacie Mokros turned in a team-high 34 kills during the weekend for the Cardinals, while Crystal Wright turned in 32 and Jenae Harner added 29. Ryan Lally totaled 98 assists and six service aces as well.

Stephanie Ryding totaled 79 digs during the tournament, and Ali Briner finished with 14 total blocks.

The Cardinals (21-3) have now won at least 20 matches for a fourth straight season. Head coach Karen Seremet Kunka is now 200-112 during her tenure at North Central, making her the second coach in the program's history to compile at least 200 victories.

North Central travels to face North Park on Tuesday.
