ROCK ISLAND, Wis. (Oct. 17, 2009) -- North Central College rallied from an early deficit to knock off Augustana College, 2-1, in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin men's soccer match at Ericson Field.

The Vikings opened up the scoring in the fourth minute after a Scott Walner pass connected with the foot of Andrew Stanley. The Cardinals countered in the 21st minute with Micah Melendrez scoring his seventh goal of the season as the two teams entered the half deadlocked at one apiece.

Michael Curtis scored the go-ahead goal off a header in the 64th minute unassisted, his fourth of the season to break the deadlock.

Phillip Klipp made three saves on the night in goal for the Cardinals while Augustana's Mike Dolan recorded two saves in the losing effort.

With the win, North Central improves to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in CCIW play while the Vikings fall to 5-7-1 and 3-2 in conference play. The Cardinals return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 21, facing Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.
