Nick Kukuc has been named the
College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Special Teams Player of the Week for the weekend of Oct. 17.
Kukuc received the distinction for his efforts in the Cardinals' 63-48 victory at Carthage College on Saturday. He returned five kickoffs for 178 yards (35.6 yards per return), with his longest return covering 46 yards. He also recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown. Kukuc, who also gained 54 yards rushing on seven carries, finished the evening with 250 all-purpose yards.
Kukuc currently leads NCAA Division III in kickoff return average (32.75 yards per return). He is the first North Central player to receive the CCIW's weekly honor for special teams, and the second Cardinal to receive a Player of the Week Award this season. Quarterback
Aaron Fanthorpe has received Offensive Player of the Week honors twice thus far in 2009.
The Cardinals host Wheaton College on Saturday. Kickoff at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast live by
